General Information
The 2005 Seminar of the ICA/SUV will be held Tuesday – Friday, 6-9 September at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on the Michigan State University campus in East Lansing, Michigan, USA. Plenary Speakers AnnouncedIan Wilson, Librarian and Archivist of Canada, will be delivering the Don Richan Memorial Lecture. Mr. Wilson began his career at Queen's University Archives and later became Saskatchewan's Provincial Archivist and Chairman of the Saskatchewan Heritage Advisory Board. He was appointed Archivist of Ontario in 1986, a position he held until 1999 when he was appointed National Archivist of Canada. In 2004, he received the joint appointment of Librarian and Archivist of Canada. The Don Richan Memorial Lecture is named after Don Richan, who was president of the ICA/SUV when he died unexpectedly from cancer in 2004. Lorenz Mikoletzky, President of the ICA, will be delivering summary remarks. Mr. Mikoletzky is also the Director General of the Austrian State Archives. Active in international professional organizations for many years, he began his career by studying history and classical archaeology at the University of Vienna. International Meeting Support GrantsThe Program Committee for the 2005 ICA/SUV Annual Seminar has provided limited, international meeting support grants to archivists wishing to attend the meeting. These grants were not open to archivists from the United States or Canada. The grants will cover the cost of registration, hotel fees, and a daily food allowance. Airfare will not be included in the grants. | |
